there's something about...

i've been slacking on the blog, doing a little bit of living.
making sure my timeline and inbox are full of invitations and "let's kick it" requests.

so - if you've been keeping up with jones, you'd know i'm now located in new yawk city again.
there's something about getting home at 7:30am each morning that i love.

there's something about:
-rooftop parties in brooklyn and house parties in harlem
-the lake in central park at 3am
-tito's hookah bar in the lower east side
-the village creperie
-catching the sunrise off the f.d.r. in alphabet city
-the thai spot on sheridan
-standing in front of madison square garden eating street meat thinking of the jay z concert you have yet to catch there
-the conversations with @projectbarbipr & A.S. & @OnMyOwnBeat & the random folks with great taste who love my cologne

who wouldnt want to live there?

-----

there's something about the wind blowing cool air at night in DC that makes me want to do better in life.
and that's not to be mistaken with me doing not-so-great now.
i fxcking love my life right now...but when the cool air comes through the screen window in SE DC i know that things are going to be alright.

-----

my doctor called me and told me i could die at any minute if i don't start taking the medicine that thins my blood out to prevent blood clots.

i mean - i take my medicine - but sometimes i don't.
and it's selfish of me, i know, so i'm going to start.

but in the event that i die:

it isn't a bad thing. inconvenient (but only as much as going to the gas station or bathroom), but not bad. i did it big!
woo!

but i'll be taking the stupid a** medication.
-----

damn, there's the breeze again.

-----

i want to say this and be done:

there is a special bond you form with those you've been to hell and back with.
i know this because i pledged.
the bond i have with my brothers is a bond that is damn near unmatched.

that being said, it bogles my mind how those who have not walked to hell with me (us) think they can be placed higher on the priority list.

the end.
-----

i'm thinking of writing a book about the art of lying.
i want to do a section on those who lie & how that lie should be exposed by those lied to.

1. listen to the lie.
2. confirm that it is a lie.
3. accept it as truth.
4. lose massive amount of respect for the liar.
5. devise plans to TAKEN 'EM OUT piece by piece.
6. smile in their face.

body update:

-----

i've brought my first pair of sneakers in the last 7 years.
crazy right.
wow.

now i'm a sneaker lover.

and...

there's a ice cream sandwich calling my name through the door of the freezer.
so i'm going to wrap this blog up a bit.

so, peace folks.
keep up with me.

fxck comfort

so i turn on my tv last night and i see ol' boy from the old (now irrelevant) group CITY HIGH on INTERVENTION because of his alcohol problem. what the hell is that about. and i felt bad for a little bit, then i was like "what the fxck is wrong with you?"
you once had a little, and now you're drinking what's left of your fame away? cool. pass the bottle.

(okay...i know the above rant may have made no sense, or it was stupid...but you're still reading, so cool)

-----

so i was having a conversation with my boy on being comfortable.
so many fall into this comfort zone & become afraid to leave it.

90% of my friends are in this zone.
every time i leave one place for another, i hear: "you need to settle down somewhere."
why the fxck would i want to do that. so i could be like the rest of world, unable to leave, never looking up or down?
fxck that. that's a depressing life.
i do not have what it takes to wake up at 5am to be at work by 8am and dedicate my time to making my boss's dreams come true, and taking care of mine on the weekend.
i have not found any COMFORT in that thought.

and i am not knocking those who do it.
it's just not for me.
i'd die.
i've tried the suits, smiles, offices & classrooms.
i'm happier with my coach class seats and suitcases & duffles.

do not get comfortable, folks.
look up every once in a while and notice the things hanging from the ceiling.
notice the new blades of grass.
and if you sit still for just a second, admire the squirrel's heartbeat.
then go!

relationships, i've found, are rather odd. not mine, of course, but other folks. i hear the stories and watch from afar, and i just laugh at some of the stupid shit couples do, say, or contemplate.
what's also funny is when women & men get mad when someone's looking hard at their mate. WHY?!
who wants to be with someone that no one wants to strip down naked and take full advantage of?
i mean - FINE! YOU be the only one that's attracted to 'em.

but for the modern socialite: date only those who've been stalked at least once.

-----

i don't know if you know - but: i fxcking love oodles of noodles (maruchen are the best brand) & today while at giant they had 60 for $10 - so of course i had to stand there and contemplate, look at my basket - then back at the noodles.
60 packs of noodles
oh! and potato bread was buy one get one free. so woo hoo!

and i hate to be late, but : WHEN IN THE HELL DID THEY START CHARGING 5cent FOR BAGS at the grocery store?
the convo went just like this:

cashier: how many bags did i give you?

me: five. why?

cashier: i forgot to tell you we charge 5cent per bag.

me: well, you better put all this food into one bag.

cashier: hahahaha.

me: give me a receipt for these bags, please. i will be returning them.

and then i walked my broke a** up outta the store.

i was going over the numbers (money sent to haiti for relief & rebuilding) and i'm loving what i see.
i sent a tweet saying "stop sending money to haiti"

let's see what's going to be done with the funds we sent over there so far.
much less than half the money we sent to haiti could be used repairing new orleans schools and communities so families can move back.

and i'm all for holding hands across the world, but what's more important to me (at this moment) are those whom i have to live with. the money sent over can more than rebuild better structures. what we need to do now is work on educating the communities in the effected areas, teaching them how to sustain their communities.
fuck france for coming & going.

(if above photo is not funny to you or you think i am insensitive, then feel free to comment or kill yourself. lighten the mood folks)
-----

so next week, new york shall find me again - fast pacing it through the parks and streets.
holding midnight cyphers on the brooklyn bridge with a crowd egging me on.
let's make it happen.

there are straws i keep in my bag.
every so often, i toss them at joe (my fake camel).
and a few weeks ago i dropped one of my straws from the second floor window onto joe's back & injured it (joe's back - not the straw).
i guess that was the straw that broke the camel's back

so it's time for me to be out.
(was that above line corny? yeah?! okay).

side note: school is still in effect. i'm transferring. if you've been keeping up with me, you already know my feelings about my current institute of higher learning.

quick blog point:

celebrities and their lives:
i used to give a fxck. now i give a fxck less.

this is why members of omega psi phi should not be allowed to teach at a public or private school.

but i would like to touch on this!
how in the hell could hampton university allow this to happen!? and then...look at the black girls' faces in the picture.
here's what they're thinking:

black girl in pink: it's cool. i've always thought of hampton as a white institution for higher learning anyway. we're just making strides int he right direction.

black girl in white: this is really gonna fxck up my social life. who's gonna wanna run train now? i guess the golf team is still up for grabs.

girl in black: i knew i'd lose...but damn, to a peckerwood? that's fucked up. my mama told me to go to famu. damn damn damn.

white girl who won: i beat all these bitches. ha ha ha. first we re-gentrify neighborhoods. now hbcu's. next: the white house.

oh: my my found me on facebook. it's time to delete the account. 3 more months, then bye!

so last night i told her i'd grab the moon if her world ever got too dark.

we've somehow managed to lock ourselves in every room of the house with a doorknob and coexist in the exact same spaces.
i guess we've done what my seventh grade science teacher taught was impossible.

today i pressed my back against the back of the toilet and wrote you a letter you will never read.
at least until i die.

i pressed my back against the seat and remembered your back pressed against the seat on that bus that time we thought we'd create sex stories with our clothes on - and strangers sitting right in front of us.

i opened your letter with: "to my little snot rag"
in case you find my book and decide to be nosy.

you are not on this planet with me.
damn you and your shit to do.
one day i want to nikki giovanni you.
kidnap you like the poets do.

we can eat fish from sticks on islands with names that are hard to pronounce while watching the water roll across your ashy feet.
(i just laughed out loud for real)

i pressed my back against the chair questioning whether or not we'd be able to lock ourselves outside.
build an imaginary box around us, wondering if the the beach-goers are watching.
they will be.

i always seem to capture the sunsets when i miss you.
this time, i captured the moon too.
and grabbed it - hoping customs allows me to bring it to you.

-----

so i'm making this the first blog of the new year.
i truly believe that we spend the year the same way we spend the night we brought it in.

i will spend mine in love.
i have run - tripped & fell hard for it all.
i love this shxt i call life. and why not.
i'm surrounded by beautiful people and beautiful people have me.

and i'm not sure if i've written this before, but if so, who cares...i say it again:
the one thing no one will EVER be able to say is that i wasn't there when they needed me.

i got your back like chiroprac-tic!

love this fxcking life like it's your last.
'cause hell - it just may be.
-----

totally unrelated & possibly absurd & obscene shxt below:

-we must learn the temperature limits of our dxcks, fellas. if your girl likes the shower water on ACID RAIN, you need to know your dxck can't handle it.

-if you're gonna let her sit on your face, make sure she leaves you an air hole. don't be that fool who dies with coochie juice on your face. it ain't cool.
-please take the time out of your busy schedules to learn the difference between YOUR & YOU'RE.

-in 2010 focus more on achieving your dreams, and not just the dreams of your employer. come from behind the desk for a few minutes and compare your personal accomplishments to your career accomplishments.

-maybe we can't turn a hoe into a housewife, but we've managed to make them school teachers and doctors.

-why the hell doesn't glue stick to the inside of the bottle?

-----

so we took a few strolls around central park & laughed at the horse pulled carriages and those who thought it was romantic to smell like shit at the end of the ride.
times square was bright - but not as bright as us.

we made the world shine.
it was like a levi's commercial - "oh pioneers."

and it was the most beautiful thing in the world.

-----

and now i'm facing a decision:
i really hate fxcking dc!
i'm not sure so much if it's dc or if it's howard
but i'm giving god a week to give me a path out of here.
if that path opens up, i'm packing my bags and running fast.

i'm no stranger to regret.
so maybe i'll regret the decision of dropping out of howard & leaving what i have here.
but i've always believed that a life without regrets is a life not worth living.

who wants to live a life full of all the right decisions?

so this year i want to focus on those regrets, bad decisions and shxt i do wrong.
everything i do correctly has been perfected and repeated. no need to dwell on that.

"loiterers should be arrested."
-----

-she has nothing but bubblegum and a condom in her $800 louis vuitton bag. other than that, she's empty.

let's get things in order. starting with our house. then our pockets, wallets and purses. no matter the cost.
-----

i used to have a fear of having a daughter.
i remember my college career & the girls i flaunted & introduced to a trife life.
and to think that could happen to some little person attached to me was unacceptable.

but i'd teach her. so i don't worry.
fellas: your daughters need to learn 'the game' more than your son does.
you hold her hand and tell her she's beautiful everyday.

you talk to her about the man you were before you were her father.
you teach her that life.

because we all know that it's scripted.
the lines haven't changed - the moves are still the same.
fools are still asking the girls if they are ticklish and attempting to get them on top.
then the kissing begins.

you tell her not to fall for that bullshxt.
cool?
COOL!

-----

BUT -
we must raise our SONS too!

-----

so let's fill our red & white plastic cups with our favorite shxt
and toast to a day like today - then fall asleep at the bar:

then QUESTION EVERYTHING
